Our Curriculum
At Blackburn the Redeemer Church of England Primary School, we aim to provide an inspiring curriculum, nurturing the development of every child enabling them to be the best that they can be. Our curriculum is designed to:
- Teach children the best in every subject they study, giving them the knowledge and skills to take their studies and passions beyond primary school.
- Give children a valuable insight into the local and global significance of all of our subjects.
- Provide children with experiences that awaken their desire for learning, leading them to become initiative takers and resilient learners.
- Ensure children live out our school values taking pride in everything they do.
Our Curriculum is mapped out with long-term overviews, medium-term plans and short-term planning support to ensure a progression in substantive and disciplinary knowledge and that teachers are supported in teaching the best curriculum possible. Knowing the difficulty of remembering key concepts, our curriculum is sequenced in small steps and has re-visiting key knowledge and concepts across different subjects and year groups built into it. As a result, we believe we provide our children with vital cultural capital that will benefit them throughout their whole lives, designed to be remembered for the long-term.
