Homework
At The Redeemer, homework is set consistently through school. There are three main aims of our homework:
- Instil a love of reading and a regular routine
- Encourage little and often practice to help build on what is learnt at school.
- Signpost children to extra learning and strategies to deepen their knowledge and remember what is learned across the curriculum.
In order to achieve these aims your child's Year Group Page will show a Homework Grid that is consistent throughout school. This has been designed flexibly to allow families at home to create an effective routine for home learning around your household schedule. Example grids are below:
There is not an expectation that your child completes every activity on this grid. Regular reading, spelling, TT Rock Stars and Maths Questions are encouraged as well as activities from the powerful knowledge section. Similarly, teachers do not require written evidence to show that homework is being done as teachers will be monitoring children's progress throughout lessons and the year in class. If children wish to share their work out of school that that can be uploaded on to the Class Dojo Portfolio for teachers to praise.
If there are issues teachers think individual pupils need more support with then more work work may be arranged after a conversation with parents/guardians.
